Enter Vinegar Syndrome, a high-end film-restoration-and-distribution company whose focus is on the cinematic low end. The company takes its name from the chemical reaction that deteriorates older varieties of film stock. When they’re poorly stored for long periods, prints literally turn to vinegar. The image presented on the disc is excellent sporting grain, print damage, and artifacts. The depth of color is great and really shows off the beauty of the lighting design. Oddly, the opening title card for David Book and Monique Starr's starring roles is missing from the print that Vinegar Syndrome has used as the master for this release.

After vague, initial reports of terrified Chinese boiling vinegar to "purify" the air, Greenfeld and his staff soon found themselves immersed in the story of a lifetime. Deftly tracking a mysterious viral When the SARS virus broke out in China in January , Karl Taro Greenfeld was the editor of Time Asia in Hong Kong, just a few miles from /5.   Vinegar Syndrome goes all out with the bonus features including a commentary track with director Gorman Bechard and star Carmine Capobianco. There’s lots of alternate, extended and outtake footage.

THE TELEPHONE BOOK (, dir. Nelson Lyon, Blu-ray/DVD). Shortly before its release as a Blu-ray/DVD combo, THE TELEPHONE BOOK was screened by some adventurous independent theaters in celebration of its long-awaited appearance on home video. Thanks to Vinegar Syndrome’s restoration process, this weirdo artifact of early s New York hit the big screen .   The Telephone Book () – I’ve been a pioneer of this film since I saw it a year ago or so. This is one the best sexploitation flicks you’ll see and one of the more light-hearted ones from Vinegar Syndrome.

A quiet New England town becomes the site of a grisly murder and assault, leaving a young man dead and his girlfriend in critical condition. Sam Cordell, head surgeon and medical examiner at the local hospital, senses something isn’t quite normal about the attacker, but barely a day later, another woman is savagely assaulted and killed.

The Flash Pre-order for Vinegar Syndrome‘s “Halfway to Black Friday” sale is now live over on the company’s official website, and will. Atmospherically photographed and featuring a moody score by Joel Goldsmith (Man’s Best Friend), Vinegar Syndrome brings this nearly unclassifiable piece of early 80s genre weirdness to Blu-ray, newly restored in 4K from its original 35mm camera negative and presented in its completely uncensored version for the first time on disc.

Vinegar syndrome is a phrase used to describe a process of film decomposition in which the celluloid breaks down chemically, resulting in a vinegary odor.

It’s an extremely destructive process that has resulted in the loss of hundreds of older motion pictures. There’s also a good kind of Vinegar Syndrome, one that works to combat the bad. Use vinegar to clean your computer mouse. If you have a mouse with a removable tracking ball, use a 50/50 vinegar-water solution to clean it.

Anticipation (, dir: Carlos Tobalina) “Beyond Temptation ” Joyce (Sheila Parks, Casanova II) and Jerry (Jesse Adams, Deep Rub) are newlyweds who, after some mind numbingly awkward conversation, make love for the first breaking in the cheap motel bed (how romantic!), the pair talk about Jerry’s brother Steve (Joey Silvera, Carnal Haven), who apparently had.

Vinegar Syndrome Like many film noir heroes, card dealer Tom Singer (Herschel Savage, PRETTY PEACHES 2) is lured into a deadly plot by the allure of a femme fatale: in this case, the mysterious Messina (Jacqueline Lorians, BLONDE GODDESS), the mistress of high roller Big Man (Jamie Gills, LUSTFUL FEELINGS).

Deadline is another great find for Vinegar Syndrome who’ve grown into a reliable home for 70s/80s Canadian oddities like Sudden Fury () and Incubus (), and while it’s. A brilliant and lamentably neglected gem of early-‘70s underground filmmaking, The Telephone Book gets the deluxe Blu-ray treatment from Vinegar Syndrome, with a sterling high-definition transfer as well as some choice extras.4/5.
